Several Bioses allow you to setup on and off times.

Another remedy if they are networked and the meet people card/Bios support WOL it you can use a magic packet.

Though IIRC this with the sole purpose works for turning machines on.

To turn them off you could use some program/script next to a system call to shutdown. There are several programs out nearby like this one: http://www.shareup.com/pc_auto_shutdown-... I'm sure within are probably some freely available, try searching on sourceforge or freshmeat.
If it's a arts school lab i doubt there is much you can do.



However computers can be put into sleep mode so that they are mostly past its sell-by date. There is also something called Wake on Lan that will rouse up the computer when it recives data from the make friends.



I can't help out too much minus knowing what type of computers your lab has.
their usually connected to matching power strip.

just turn the little red switch on the power strip for a few second and theyshould turn off.

if they dont connect to matching spots. guess youll have to turn them adjectives off by paw =/
