How do you upgrade to a subsequently Mac OS X performance?

I'm trying to download limewire onto my Mac. The merely problem is, it requires Java 1.5 or later to run. The pop-up that informed me of this said that upgradinbg to a next version of OS X could solve this problem. But, how do I do that? Any assist is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in adavance to whoever anwers.

You didn't specify what version of MacOs X you are using. Just run the software update. One of the update items is a newer revision of Java. Run the update program several times if you haven't done it recently. You can also step to the Apple support pages and see what version of Java they have. Lastly, if you requirement MacOs 10.4 and are running 10.1 or something similar, you'll have to buy it. You can procure versions on eBay, especially beside the newer 10.5 coming out in nearly 6 weeks.

If you are running Mac OS X 10.2 or 10.3, go to an Apple Store or the online Apple store and buy Mac OS X 10.4 ($129) But try Software Update first...
1. Run Software Update surrounded by the Apple menu. Download and install the COMBO update if you are behind a couple updates.

2. Buy and Upgrade disk and install it. Back up your facts before installing.

3. Look for an elder version of Limewire and use that.
